Building permits are issued by the Summit County Building Department for all construction within unincorporated Summit County and the towns of Dillon and Montezuma. If you are planning to build within the town limits of Silverthorne, Frisco, Breckenridge, or Blue River, you must contact those towns directly. A Matrix available free in our office identifies other agencies that you will need to visit before obtaining your building permit or Certificate of Occupancy. The matrix identifies the agencies (fire districts, sewer districts, etc.) associated with each subdivision. This matrix is an excellent source for valuable subdivision information. Each day, one of the plans examiners, on a rotating basis, spends the day working with walk-ins, answering phone questions and dealing with the general public, allowing the other plans examiners to concentrate on reviewing plans without interruptions. We have found that this system significantly reduces the time it takes to approve your plans. Usually, any of the plans examiners can answer your questions or make changes to your plans, etc. If you really need to speak to a specific person, you still can. |
