Summit County Engineering Department Home

Responsibilities of the Engineering Department are numerous and encompass many areas of County involvement including:

  • Reviewing and enforcing engineering standards as established in the Summit County Land Use and Development Code and the Grading and Excavation Manual
  • Planning, designing, and/or coordinating public works projects including roadway projects, Recpath projects, and natural resource improvements
  • Floodplain administration
  • Improvement district administration
  • Contract administration
  • Road sign review and approval (e.g. speed limits, warning signs, etc.)
  • Coordinating right-of-way and special transport permits
  • Administering access permits and grading & excavation permits
