SUMMIT COUNTY – The Breckenridge Backstage Theatre and the Summit County Veterans Service Office are partnering to treat local veterans to an evening of enjoyment at the Riverwalk Center. Veterans are offered free tickets for the performance of the play “Hairspray” at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2.

“To promote the free services available to veterans located in Summit County, we are proud to offer this outstanding musical,” Summit County Veterans Service Officer Tom Byledbal said.

“Hairspray” is a family-friendly audience favorite piled high with laughter, romance, energetic dancing and deliriously tuneful songs. Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, “Hairspray” is a perfect end to BBT's knockout summer season. Audience members will tap their feet to the beat as Tracy Turnblad and friends triumph over high school bullies, racism and enemies everywhere of big girls with big hair.

Young and old will be shimmying in their seats as they enjoy musical favorites such as "Welcome to the Sixties" and "You Can't Stop the Beat." It's timely, hair-hopping family fun in dazzling color and style, brought to you by the producers of past Riverwalk smash hits Disney's “Beauty and the Beast,” “Shrek The Musical” and “The Jungle Book.”

Veterans are welcome to see the Sept. 2 performance at the Riverwalk Center for free; their significant others can receive a discounted ticket price of $25, and their children a discounted price of $10. Tickets, available on a first-come-first-served basis, can be reserved only by calling the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre at 970-453-0199. Veterans’ tickets must be reserved in advance of the show.

Veterans Services Officer Tom Byledbal will give a very brief presentation on available veterans’ services.
