SUMMIT COUNTY – The Art Forum and the Summit County Arts Council will unveil a month-long exhibit Friday, featuring artwork by Snowy Peaks High School students. The opening reception will take place from 12 noon to 2 p.m., Feb. 12, at the Summit County Community and Senior Center, 0083 Nancy’s Place, Frisco. The reception will include a meet-and-greet with student artists and Arts Council representatives.

Snowy Peaks High School is Summit School District’s innovation-learning option for high school students. The school utilizes a blended-learning instructional model, focused on personalized educational experiences, individual support, project-based learning and the cultivation of 21st Century skills.

The Summit County Arts Council sponsors Snowy Peaks’ art program. Students travel to the Breckenridge Arts District and the Arts Alive Gallery to be mentored by local volunteer artist educators.

Local jewelry designer and precious metal artist Yvonne Kuennen is in charge of education and outreach for the Arts Council. She curated the work of her Snowy Peaks students to display in the new exhibit at the Community and Senior Center.

“These kids are very talented, and their work covers a wide spectrum of art forms,” Kuennen said.

The collection spans several years of art education at Snowy Peaks and includes paintings, mosaics, masks and tiles.

The Summit County Art Forum (formerly known as the Summit County Arts Exhibit Committee) caretakes public, County-owned art and art-display spaces, including the Art Forum space in the County Commons lobby. www.summitcountyco.gov/ArtForum
