Summit County Coroner

Regan Wood is the Summit County Coroner. She was elected to the office by local voters in 2014. Wendy Kipple is the Chief Deputy Coroner.

County Coroner Bio


Regan Wood is a long time Summit County local. She has been employed with the Summit County Office of the Coroner since 2006 when she started as a Deputy and was promoted to Chief Deputy in 2012. She is certified as a Death Investigator by the American Board of Medico-Legal Death Investigation and the Colorado Coroner’s Association, of which she is currently a board member. Regan was previously the Executive Director for the Advocates for Victims of Assault in Summit County. She earned a B.A. in History at SDSU in 1991 and a paralegal certification from USD in 1992. She resides in Frisco with her daughter and can often be found outside enjoying the beautiful environment in which we live.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bio


Wendy Kipple grew up in Dillon and is a graduate of Summit High School. In 1989, Wendy joined the Summit County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Deputy, serving there for four years. While there, she also worked for the Summit County Coroner’s Office under Coroner Gary Lindstrom and has now worked under six coroners in Summit County. Wendy worked for the Dillon Police Department for 19 years and served as a sergeant, mounted patrol, K-9, and crime scene investigator, until retiring in 2012. Wendy was the third coroner investigator in the state of Colorado to obtain her Board Fellow Certification from the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators. Wendy is also a part of the federal disaster response team, DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team), and spent nine weeks in Louisiana assisting with the recovery and identification of deceased after Hurricane Katrina. She takes pride in serving the citizens and visitors of Summit County in her capacity as a chief deputy coroner, bringing dignity and compassion in death to all of those she serves. Wendy resides near Fairplay with her small herd of horses, dogs and cats.
