Volunteer Program

We have an active volunteer program and are always seeking more people who would like to give of their time to the animals. Volunteers are a great asset to the shelter as they give that extra attention and do activities that are needed while a shelter animal awaits its new home. Such activities include dog walking, supervising dog play groups, playing with cats, grooming, and general socializing with the shelter animals.

In order to become a volunteer you need to:
  • Be at least 14 years old
    • If you are younger, a parent or guardian must accompany you for training and volunteering
  • Be willing to commit 12 hours per quarter
  • Complete a Volunteer Application (pdf)
  • Attend a 1.5 hour volunteer orientation
  • Attend a 45 minute cat class to volunteer with cats
  • Attend a 1.75 hour dog class to volunteer with dogs
