Foster Homes

There are different kinds of foster homes:
  • Baby (ages 0-3) homes – The caretaker must have the flexibility to care for a baby full-time in your home.
  • Emergency Homes – Three homes carry a pager and are on-call for 10 days each month. These homes provide short term placements, usually a few hours to maybe a few weeks. Most of the placements in Summit County fall under this category.
  • Regular foster homes – These homes take in children who may need longer care, or cover occasional back-up for emergency homes. These homes may make stipulations regarding the children they take into their homes.
  • Teen friendly homes – Summit County is always in need of teen friendly homes.
